About Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling is a treatment that punctures small holes in the skin on your neck, face, or torso to stimulate skin restoration. As an additional bonus, your platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may be administered to the same region to help cells heal and permit the skin to begin growing new cells. Both of these procedures together are usually known as the vampire facial and can decrease the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, large pores, scars, fine lines, and other skin conditions. The surface of your skin may be significantly enhanced to look smoother and more even in tone without damaging the epidermis. If you'd like to find out more about the microneedling with PRP procedure, contact Jules Walters Plastic Surgery in New Orleans, LA to schedule a private consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jules Walters.

"Warning: long post I call my cancer diagnosis “the gift that keeps on giving”. When I was referred to Dr. Walters, I had gone through 8 surgeries and was experiencing a 4-way contraction on the right side as a result of radiation after reconstruction. This caused me to be in pain 24 hours a day. Dr. Walters gave me hope that I could live without that pain and he did a fat transfer from my stomach to make a new breast. The pain was gone. This past November I had the second phase of the surgery which was to give me symmetry, to reconstruct the nipples which were misshapen, and to transfer fat to give fullness where needed. The surgery was a success for me. I can look at myself in the mirror and I am okay with what I see now. I live two and a half hours from Dr. Walters’ offices. Dr. Walters and his staff were kind, responsive, and accommodating to my needs to say the least. My questions which were numerous were answered in a timely manner. During difficult times, Dr. Walters was able to see me quickly and he was willing to discuss options by phone. I am a happy patient and at every visit I was asked if I was happy with the results. I can say that I am very pleased and happy with my results and with the care I was given by Dr. Walters and all of his staff!"- D.B. / Google / May 29, 2019
A great candidate for microneedling with PRP is any individual seeking to alter the look or feel of the top layer of their skin. Uneven skin tone, dry skin, coarse texture, loose skin, age spots, acne, wrinkles, and scarring are skin conditions that may benefit from microneedling with PRP therapy. This procedure may also be utilized to fight the effects of sun damage that might have caused skin to have a rough feel or hyperpigmentation.
Before the microneedling portion of your session, a member of our team will take a sample of your blood for your PRP collection. The blood will then be transferred to our laboratory for the separation process during which the platelets, growth factors, and stem cells can be turned into PRP. For your microneedling therapy, Dr. Jules Walters employs innovative technology, using the SkinPen device, to make small holes in your skin. The little needles used won't harm your skin but instead will help stimulate the creation of collagen. When the microneedling is done, the PRP serum will be placed on the epidermis to sink in. Once the PRP is completely absorbed, we'll clear away the serum and cleanse the skin.
What to Expect
After your procedure, you could encounter some regular effects such as swelling, bruising, and redness. Dr. Walters recommends that patients avoid the use of makeup, cleansing with exfoliating face washes, or swimming in pools for around three days following the session. Activities like this could expose the treatment area to strong bacteria and chemicals which may cause negative side effects. You also need to reduce exposure to the sun or use protective steps when planning to be outdoors. Full results are usually noticed within the first month as the skin works to fix and heal itself.
