What Are Some Considerations for Breast Augmentation?
Dr. Walters will help you decide the best options for your breast augmentation during your private consultation. He will consider your body type and aesthetic goals to help determine the best size, shape, and profile.
Size – Breast implant size is distinguished based on the cubic centimeters (cc) of saline or silicone used. To understand the right volume, Dr. Walters will measure how much native breast tissue exists and the size you hope to achieve. With the help of Vectra 3D imaging, Dr. Walters will help you select the appropriate implant that will not only be safe for you but also help you accomplish your goals.
Shape – Implants come in either a teardrop or round shape. Both of these shapes are widely used; however, most of our patients select a round implant. It generally looks and feels more natural while adding a fullness to the top of the breast that most patients seek. With both shapes of implants, you can achieve a very natural look.
Profile – Implant profile equates to how far out the implant looks (projection). In other words, this is what is visible from the side angle. Most projections include low to extra high ranges.

Incision placement and implant location decisions are generally made ahead of surgery. During breast augmentation, Dr. Walters makes the chosen incision, and the appropriate breast implant will be placed. Dr. Walters uses the Keller Funnel, which provides a no-touch delivery technique minimizing contact with sterile breast implants and surrounding tissue. The Keller Funnel allows for a very small incision with silicone implants.
Two techniques may be chosen for implant placement:
Under the pectoral muscle
Behind the breast tissue, over the pectoral muscle
Where to insert the breast implant depends on varying factors, including the overall type and size of the implant, along with Dr. Walters’ opinion. No matter where the incision is placed, scarring is often hidden within the natural creases and lines of the body.
Breast augmentation surgery is an outpatient procedure with the patient under general anesthesia, meaning you will be asleep.
If a fat grafting approach is chosen, liposuction will be performed first to remove fat from a specific area of the body. Once completed, the purified form of the fat will be injected into the breasts until the desired outcome is achieved.

How Long Is Recovery from Breast Augmentation?

Rapid Recovery Breast Augmentation Timeline
While experiences vary, patients can expect recovery to proceed along the following general timeline:
Day of surgery: Begin post-op exercises and anti-inflammatory medication. Patients are encouraged to get out of the house and go out to dinner to speed up their recovery.
