About Vaginal Tightening

Negative effects of genetics, pregnancy, birth, menopause, and the normal aging process can lead to vaginal skin laxity, vaginal dryness, and decreased sexual pleasure, among other complications. Dr. Jules Walters in New Orleans, LA is excited to provide ThermiVa and Femtouch. As a nonsurgical procedure performed at Walters Plastic Surgery, ThermiVa utilizes radiofrequency power while FemTouch uses laser energy to stimulate the production of collagen, help strengthen vaginal tissue, and address functional difficulties. ThermiVa and FemTouch are equally safe and capable of enhancing the strength and elasticity of vaginal tissue without a need for surgery or extra downtime. It's an excellent choice for women looking to revive the look and functionality of the vaginal region without the risks.

Ideal Candidates

An ideal candidate for nonsurgical vaginal tightening is a woman with light to moderate vaginal laxity. It's also a perfect choice for those unsure about having more kids and who wish to prevent the recovery that accompanies a surgery. As an ideal candidate for ThermiVa or FemTouch, you should probably be at least three months post-partum from your most recent childbirth, be finished having children, have a reduction in sexual pleasure, and also have loose outer or inner vaginal tissue.

Procedure Technique

Thermiva: Completed by Dr. Walters as an outpatient procedure, ThermiVa can be finalized in three 15 – 30-minute sessions. The treatment sessions may also have to be spaced a minimum of one month apart. For the actual session, the ThermiVa wand is placed just above the outside region of the vagina and inserted into the inner vagina. The handpiece has an integrated thermometer to monitor the temperature to manage the safety of your vaginal tissue. After the session, patients need to avoid intercourse for no less than a day but may continue their regular activities.

FemTouch: A FemTouch treatment will be performed similarly to Thermiva with no downtime following the procedure. A small wand containing an AcuPulse CO2 laser will be inserted into the vagina, which will cause a heating and vibrating sensation, but there should not be pain. Generally, 2 – 4 sessions are recommended spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart, but patients may see some results after just one session. Afterward, you can resume your normal activities, refraining from sexual intercourse for 72 hours.

What to Expect

Women that choose ThermiVa or FemTouch should expect to find results about three weeks after their final session, with some final results taking as long as 3 – 6 months to appear. Though follow-up sessions might be required, effects will last about two years. The outcome will be altered if the patient gets pregnant or gives birth vaginally after the procedure. Overall, the tissues surrounding your vaginal opening and wall should be tighter and look more rejuvenated. This can help reduce symptoms of urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, and pain during intercourse. Increased sexual pleasure may also be a benefit due to the tightening of the skin.
